A blogger friend recently asked me to do a guest post on her blog while she was busy changing the world in Haiti. I’m sure you guys have heard me talk about my fab pal Victoria Stinson, the brains & beauty behind Beautiful Chaos.
Go check out my article on her site about #girlpower & how girls sticking up for & helping girls is the newest (&hottest) trend!
Spring is one of my favorite times of year. I love the fresh start that it brings as well as all of the fresh looks! One of the best parts about spring style is the shoes. Spring shoes come in all sorts of colors and styles, what better way to incorporate colors into your wardrobe than at the base of the entire outfit?
I have compiled some of my favorite spring shoes for you all from every spectrum of the rainbow, so there is come thing for everyone! xx
New Orleans Fashion Week is just around the corner (March 13-19)! This is a wonderful event to help showcase southern designers & all of their fabulous pieces. Tickets are $65 per day ($35 with a student ID!) & you get to attend the entire day of shows (buy your tickets here). I am so excited to be able to attend NOLA Fashion Week & see what it is all about!
I just recently teamed up with one of the sponsors of NOLA Fashion Week, Hemline on Metairie Rd , to show y’all some of the awesome pieces they have in stock for spring. I would highly recommend checking out this location of the Southern clothing store chain, they had a very large selection of pieces & the staff absolutely spoiled me!
I chose three very different looks from the store to show you guys the wide variety of styles Hemline has to offer. They truly do have something for everyone!
Y’all. These culottes are going to be so hot for this up-coming season! Not only are they in one of my all time favorite colors, but the cut is flattering & they are comfy to boot. I would wear these to a girl’s night out with a flashy top, like this white sequin one, & a statement necklace!
For all of the gals fixing to go on Spring Break, this look is a perfect daytime look for whenever you are not lounging in your bikinis! After I put these Free People shorts on I fell in love. They are beyond comfortable & did not make me feel like a sausage (a common issue in jean shorts tbh). This shirt was perfectly flowey & would be great to cover you up without making you hot as hades. Like any weekend outfit, it simply was not complete without a killer pair of sunnies to block out the haters to shield my eyes from the sun’s damaging UV rays!
Red Hot in Black
This dress made me feel like I could’ve been in The Cheetah Girls 2 when they went to Barcelona… & I mean that as the upmost compliment. Photograph’s simply do not do this dress justice, it was STUNNING. It took all of the will power in the world not to leave the store with it. If anyone has a Spring wedding coming up, I would definitely recommend this dress. It is perfectly delicate & honestly looks like it was hand crafted by the gods while sweet angels played harps into their ears to inspire it’s beauty.
All of the looks from this post can be purchased at the Hemline on Metairie Road in Metairie (except for the shoes cause #babyfeet)! Go stop by & visit them!
Also, be sure to buy your New Orleans Fashion Week Tickets! All the glamour of Fashion Week + all of the party of New Orleans makes it bound to be an out of this world time.
Let me know if any of my beloved followers are going, I would love to see y’all! xx
For those of you who do not avidly listen to Drake the title of this post comes from one of my favorite Drizzy songs, “Right Hand” where he raps “you’re my right hand, you’re my go to”. My “right hand” style item is black leggings. If you were to see me out & about on an average day, I would most likely be in black leggings. They are comfortable and aesthetically pleasing and easy to throw on when I wake up 2 minutes before I need to leave. They can be dressed up a bit with a cute sweater or flannel and boots or used for athleisure wear around campus.
As part of my School Style series I wanted to share some of my favorite pairs of leggings that I have come across through my years of hunting.
These are a great plain pair of leggings for a non-athletic look. The website claims that they are “calf length” but they hit perfectly at my ankles on my 4’11” stature.
I could go on and on about how wonderful these leggings are! They are v high waisted so I feel like everything is sucked in when I wear them! Just a warning though, this pair is extremely shiny because of the nylon so if you are not into that then steer clear.
Good, warm pair of leggings with a bit more of a sporty feel.
These leggings are for when you want to keep the comfort of athletic wear but give it more of a saucy twist. Subtle sass for a cheap price! Warning: the quality is just about what you would expect with the price. I got a pair of leggings from Forever 21 just recently (not this exact pair) and they had a nice little rip in the booty after a few wears.
I just recently had a “treat yo’self” moment with these leggings and it was one of the best shopping decisions I have ever made. The quality of this pair is unparalleled, they claim to have a “naked sensation” which is wonderful because taking off my pants is like the highlight of my day (if we are being real with each other). They also defy the bane of leggings, the mid-day sag. This pair stays in tact and does not sag ALL DAY. Definitely worth the investment!
I frequently get asked what my on-campus go to looks are so I wanted to do a little series of posts to show you guys! I typically go for an “athleisure” look that, if I must say so myself, I have perfected. There are very few days where I am not wearing black leggings & tennis shoes, what I really do is just mix up tops & accessories. My school style may not be super exciting but it is very clean cut & practical for getting around a large campus.
We are all getting to the point in the semester where the days all start to blur together & we lose focus of the big picture. I have many a moment where I get unmotivated & start to question my life choices, but then something will happen that will make me fall in love with my major (Fashion Merchandising) & blogging all over again. Sometimes we just need a little kick in the ass to get going!
Here are a few quotes that run through my head & are doodled all over my planner whenever I am feeling down & out
“I didn’t always know what I wanted to do, but I knew the kind of woman I wanted to be”-DVF
“Humble, with just a hint of Kanye”
“If you want to be successful, it’s just this simple. Know what you are doing. Love what you are doing. & believe in what you are doing.” -Cecil Beaton
“The flower that blooms in adversity is the most rare & beautiful of all.” -Emperor of China from Mulan
“Always stay gracious, best revenge is your paper” -Beyoncé
Also, here are some pictures that made my Monday a little less Monday-like:
With all of the love in the airthat I’ve been avoiding, I found myself wearing Valentine’s inspired pieces in my everyday ensembles. This outfit would be v fun for a casual Valentine’s date (or movie with your bestie if you are anything like me)!
It’s also a wonderful way to transition into the spring weather that Baton Rouge has been experiencing. I never thought I would be a denim jacket girl (it reminds me of Limited Too) but after I tried this one on I realized how versatile it could be!
With Valentine’s day just around the corner I find myself more & more compelled to undergarment shop. Lingerie is one of the most luxe things to shop for in my opinion! So if you’re buying your sassy panties to surprise your guy or just for your eyes only, here are some sexy pieces that won’t break the bank!
Due to the loss of a loved one, I have not been able to post for the past week. However, I am back & ready to bring some great new content!
Today I am coming to you from another coffee shop, Garden District Coffee. It’s a precious local coffee shop in Baton Rouge that serves amazing quality coffee. It is the kind of coffee that reminds you how crappy Starbucks really is (don’t get me wrong, I do love Starbs as much as any other white girl though).
This outfit was a great way to dress season appropriate without smothering in the Louisiana weather mood swings!
For those of you who do not know what Mardi Gras is, it is a series of celebrations filled with parades, extravagant balls, & copious amounts of alcohol, that all lead up to Mardi Gras day (aka “Fat Tuesday”). Mardi Gras is typically associated with New Orleans (& trust me, NOLA does Mardi Gras right) however, Lafayette Mardi Gras is truly an experience as well! If ever given the opportunity to attend any Mardi Gras, definitely hop on that! Mardi Gras is an experience that you will never forget.
This past weekend I was asked to be someones date to a Mardi Gras ball. And by someone I mean Caroline. Boy, did we cut up! We always love getting glitzy together.
Let me tell you guys a little something about this dress, I borrowed it from my friend Victoria Stinson of Beautiful Chaos & it is one of her original designs. I am so proud to wear something of hers before she makes it big time! Everyone remember her name because this gal is going places.
This is just the beginning to a fabulous Mardi Gras season!
